Supply Chain Management Professional Development Program Celebrates first Graduating Class
April 19, 2010
LENEXA, Kan. - The Workforce Partnership has helped four individuals graduate from the “Certified Supply Chain Management Professional” program. This program was developed to provide trained and dedicated professionals needed to meet the ever growing demand in Supply Chain Management in and around the Greater Kansas City / Overland Park 18 county region addressed by KC SmartPort.
The program is a joint development effort by Workforce Partnership, Barron’s-Auxier Inc, and Greater Kansas City APICS. Trent Howerton, Director of System Performance for Workforce Partnership, commented that he was very pleased that these graduates will add their new skills to improve the operations for their future employers. “All four of these graduates come from various former mid-management positions that had been erased due to the economic downturn. They have developed skills and credentials that now qualify them for positions in a leading technology field that is highly desirable by employers. We anticipate that these new skills will assist them in gaining new employment more quickly.” You can find out more about the program by visiting, https://www.kansasworks.com/ada/services/schools/SchResults.cfm
David Auxier, CFPIM, CFDM, CSCP, President of Barron’s-Auxier, Inc., worked with Mr. Howerton and the local APICS chapter in developing a course that both prepared the graduates to pass the rigid APICS’ Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) exam while instilling additional needed knowledge and expertise required and desired by employers. “These graduates not only can improve the Supply Chain portion of their future employer, but can also contribute to the increase of bottom line profits by 20 to 50 percent. This is state of the art training we are providing. I am proud of each of the graduates and openly offer my recommendation for their employment and personally guarantee their ability to contribute to your Supply Chain efforts.”, commented Auxier.
Joe Brackman, President of Greater Kansas City APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society, www.APICSKC.org ), assisted in providing training in several of the classes. “I am so impressed with the high level of management skills and understanding that each of these graduates came to the class to start with. By increasing their knowledge with the Supply Chain Management technology, they are now able to dramatically add to every company’s ability to meet the new challenges of both business in general as well as the changing world of supply and distribution.”
The funding for the individuals to attend the Supply Chain training was provided through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Workforce Partnership of Kansas City. Workforce Partnership offers other services in addition to training that help individuals get back to work.
