Supply Chain / Logistics Development Program Celebrates 5th Graduating Class
KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 2, 2009 – The Full Employment Council (FEC) has responded to Kansas City transportation business demand by training 55 individuals in Supply Chain Logistics. Individuals qualifying for the Century 21 Scholarship had their tuition and books paid and attended the weekend (Saturday) course designed and taught by David Auxier and Joe Brackman of the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
David Auxier, President of Barron’s-Auxier, Inc., Saint Joseph, MO. Commented of the students in each class “…you could see the lights come on in their minds as all the concepts came together and each person realized, “Yes, I REALLY can do this!” ... These graduates will make a great contribution to their new or current employers… Each person worked hard to obtain so much knowledge and practical application in such a short time”. David Auxier, CFPIM, CFDM, (one of only 334 individuals active worldwide with the CFPIM title, Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management) shares the course instruction with Joseph Brackman, CPIM, Six-Sigma Green Belt.
The industry certificate program included topics such as: Supply Chain Management, Transportation and Logistics in today’s business, Forecasting Demand, Basics of Inventory Management & Control, Problem Solving, Scheduling Concepts, Lean Operations, Introduction to 5-S, RFID, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, Business Communication and Business Math using Microsoft Excel.
Graduates of the training received Certificates from American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) as well as the Certificate of Completion from the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Scott Boyce, Vice President of “Train-To-Work” Development for the Human Capital Academy at UCM said, “This demand driven Supply Chain Logistics training will deliver an ongoing pool of qualified workers for KC SmartPort and their partners”.
FEC’s - Supply Chain / Logistics Development Program can provide books and tuition paid scholarships to incumbent workers, as well as job seekers and individuals changing careers. After qualifying, students will attend the course on Saturdays for 11 weeks. The curriculum was designed in response to local industry sector company needs based on input from the KC SmartPort and their affiliate partners.
On going training and Hiring Events will be based on enrollment and business demand.
